
Last night I hosted the first ever Canadian Screen Awards…for the second year in a row. I know this sounds impossible or that I’m drunk while I’m typing this, but trust me it’s not one of those things. Last year I hosted the Gemini Awards (Canada’s Emmy awards) industry night for the news, sports and lifestyle departments. Then the Gemini awards were discontinued (not my fault), rolled in with the Genie awards (Canada’s Oscars) and became the Canadian Screen Awards. Phew. Glad I cleared that up. In any case there’s a new statue to be won, new shows to be considered and new bragging rights …
Well, in the midst of a winter storm described by Torontonians as “Snowmageddon” and by Montrealers as “a light dusting” we managed to travel (by train and then bus) to lovely Lennoxville Quebec for a special taping of The Debaters as part of Bishop’s University’s Winter Homecoming weekend.
The unprecedented university campus taping was the brainchild of University Principal Michael Goldbloom and CBC President Hubert Lacroix, both of whom attended the taping and personally welcomed us to the campus before the show!

MY 3 MENTORS
I’ve had many mentors in my life at one time or another but 3 come to mind when I really think of it and I’m pretty sure none of them know I think of them as mentors. But sometimes unexpected thanks is the best kind, so here goes:
